Boars Galore: Zack Meyer

Winter may be gone (kinda), but the Winter of our Discontent is coming soon!

ZACK MEYER is a founding member of Unrehearsed, and has been performing the technique since 2006.

RICHARD III is coming this July. In celebration of his recent disinterment (and re-interment), we wanted to know:

1. Where would you like to be buried and subsequently dug up in 500 years?
ZACK: I would like to be buried and dug up next to dinosaur bones in a position that looks like I’m upper-cutting it. Though scientists would eventually figure it out, those first couple of days of the discover would be hilarious.

2. What would you do for the Crown? (no murdered relatives)
ZACK: The only challenge that I see fit for obtaining the British crown is a Mario-kart tournament.

3. If you were locked up in the Tower of London, who would you want to be locked up with you?
ZACK: I would like to be locked in the Tower of London with a locksmith, preferably one with his tools on hand.

ZACK: This is the poem read at the reinterment:
“My bones, scripted in light, upon cold soil, a human braille.
My skull, scarred by a crown, emptied of history.
Describe my soul as incense, votive, vanishing;
your own the same.
Grant me the carving of my name.
These relics, bless. Imagine you re-tie a broken string and on it thread a cross, the symbol severed from me when I died.
The end of time – an unknown, unfelt loss – unless the Resurrection of the Dead…
or I once dreamed of this, your future breath in prayer for me, lost long, forever found;
or sensed you from the backstage of my death, as kings glimpse shadows on a battleground.”
I would like to thank everyone involved in the Unrehearsed Shakespeare Company of Chicago for providing me with such a wonderful opportunity for my last show as a Chicago resident for the foreseeable future. Come check it out!
