STEPHEN ROWLAND plays the Sultan

Stephen is proud to be working with The Unrehearsed Shakespeare Company.  Stephen has been most recently been seen working with Runcible Theatre Company in Scenes from an Execution. A few of Stephen’s regional credits include a residency at B. St. Theatre (California) where he performed in Aliens With Extraordinary Skills and The Ugly One while kickstarting/acting in The Complete Works of Shakespeare Abridged; and a brief stint at Berkshire Theatre Festival (Massachusetts) in Candide.  Stephen originally comes to us from North Carolina and is loving the rich life that Chicago has to offer.

The Sultan is a child-like tyrant with an evil past. More naïve than wicked, this despot is rife for transformation, and his habitual tirades and mock-crusades against womankind are awkwardly derailed by Scheherazade, intelligent and unafraid, and thoroughly unimpressed by his speechifying.

“What’s love, but lust directed at the face?”
